How's the colour challenge going?

I've got some wonderful layouts already submitted. You have a couple more days to be included, this challenge finishes on Sunday 2nd August. Be in to win $20 voucher to spend at Scrap Box NZ.

I hope you are all taking advantage of the 30% off sale this weekend. Some great savings to be had. I need the room for all the wonderful products that are getting launched from Summer CHA 2009. We'll have to start thinking Christmas papers shortly too. That's a little scary!!

I thought it was time I shared some of my off the page items I made for my nieces birthday. Wanted to do something special but they had to be sent to Aussie so couldn't be too bulky.

I've used Kaisercraft Letter & Wooden Butterfly. Vellum butterflies cut with cuttlebug and Kaisercraft rhinestones down the middle. Green Tara & Bazzill Flowers, brads and a selection of ribbons.

We have visited in November & her birthday was in April. She was amazed that Aunty Fiona remembered the colours in her room and was really chuffed with her present.

Hope you all have a great weekend
Happy Scrapping

Top Tip Tuesday...

TOP TIP: Keeping a notebook handy is always a good idea, but one that is often overlooked. In your notebook you can jot down ideas, inspiration, things family and friends say and do. Especially children as often it is a case of "out of the mouth of babes". You may also wish to keep sketch ideas in here too as you can note it down if you don't have the time to go and scrap it now.

Top Tip Tuesday..

That time again, so here is this weeks top tip.

TOP TIP: Matching photos with paper can sometimes be difficult. But here are a couple of pointers that will make that task a little easier. If you are going to be working with 'busy' photos i.e lots of different colours, keep your papers neutral. Black and white are a good combination as are some of the pale browns/creams etc. Black and white photos can be used with almost any colour combination. But remember the mood you are trying to set when matching papers to black and white photos.

Enjoy the rest of your week.

Oh Dear....

...I seem to be slipping. I was suppose to set the new fortnightly challenge yesterday and I clean forgot. My how the weeks are running away on me. So here is your challenge.

A Colour Challenge this time. You have until the 2nd of August to email your creation to fiona@scrapboxnz.com Good Luck and I will be back later in the day with the Tuesday Top Tip, but must dash for now.

Top Tip Tuesday....

...again. I have been a little slack in getting this weeks tip up but it is still Tuesday at the moment.

Top Tip: ALWAYS have a packet of baby wipes on hand for those clean up jobs. I know this is something many of you have probably already thought of, but they are great for cleaning up excess glue and wiping your stamps once you have used them. Remember you can always use these for giving your mats a clean up after each scrap session too!!

Using Glimmer Mist...

I know that Fiona has had a couple of enquiries on how to use Glimmer Mist. The possibilities are endless and the example below is just the beginning.

I have inked the owls first with a base colour of dark brown, then I have sprayed them with Glimmer Mist in a similar colour. It is hard to tell in this photo but they have a shimmery effect. I will leave the card at Fiona's for those locals that wish to look at it. Alternatively you can go

--->Here to see further ideas. Have fun

Top Tip Tuesday Time...

Top Tip: As a scrapbooker, I end up with so many little scraps of leftover paper from completing a layout. So while I have my scraps out using a certain colour combination I often make a card as well to add to the stash of cards that I have. So use those scraps and make a card or two so then you will always have a card on hand for any occasion.

So your challenge for the next fornight is to complete a circular layout. You have until Sunday 19th July to email your version to fiona@scrapboxnz.com in JPEG format.

Here are a few sketches to get those creative juices flowing.

Have a great week.

Time is running away on me

Whoops - I've just sent out the newsletter and in that mentioned about the fortnightly challenges that Julia is setting. I don't where time is going but said you still have another week to complete the double layout - but in fact that closes this Sunday 5 July. Too much happening & not enough time!

Give a job to a busy person and they will always get it done!

Enjoy your weekend.
