Scrap Box NZ Challenges
Last year I ran fortnightly layout and OTP (Off the Page) challenges, but I found that some people were commenting that they were finding it difficult to get such a big project finished in two weeks, with other life commitments getting in the way of scrap booking! Not fair when housework, gardening, meals and work take priority to scrap booking and craft - LOL. Anyway I thought of making the Layout challenge run monthly on the first Monday of the month and introduce a Card Making Challenge that will run fortnightly on a Wednesday closest to the 15th of the month.
So welcome to Scrap Box NZ first card challenge! Over the years I'm sure everyone has created a "Birthday Card"! This is your challenge this fortnight but you need to use the colours - Aqua, Brown and Cream. I've chosen those colours as they can be adapted to either male or female. So create a birthday card using those colours for any aged birthday. It's all about having fun and the best card will win a $10.00 voucher to be spent in store at Scrap Box NZ. Email your finished cards to fiona@scrapboxnz.com no later than midnight Wednesday 28th March 2012.
Good luck and have fun!

Using the Silhouette Cameo I made this owl pillow box for one of Ollie's wee friends. Have a great weekend. Sally.

Why do we need Leap Years?

Leap Years are needed to keep our calendar in alignment with the Earth's revolutions around the sun. It takes the Earth 365 days and 6 hours (a tropical year) to circle once around the Sun.
However, the Gregorian calendar has only 365 days in a year, so if we didn't add a day on February 29 nearly every 4 years, we would lose almost six hours off our calendar every year. After only 100 years, our calendar would be off by approximately 24 days!
Happy Wedding Anniversary to my sister - 20 years today or is that 5 years married!
Enjoy your extra day!
