Sketches & Challenges

As Sally has said below using a Sketch is a great way to get started on a layout. I recently sponsored some challenges over at Little Shop of Sketches. Pop over to their site and get some inspiration and sketches if you find you are not sure where to start or would like to follow a sketch.

Another site I have sponsored is Southern Girls Challenge. This is a challenge blog aimed at Australian and New Zealand papercrafters. Giving the girls down under a challenge of their own to enter where they can use any stamps or products. And win some awesome prizes!

Don't forget Scrap Box NZ own fortnightly challenges. On at the moment is a "Blokes Layout and Card", submissions for this close at midnight on 29th August 2010. Check out the details two postings below.

Hope you all had a great weekend - for once in Nelson the sun was shining!!!

Friends

Used a sketch for inspiration from http://thescrappiest.blogspot.com/

I think the 'Oliver' BG range may be one of my all time FAV BG ranges. Just can't get enough of those papers. As an aside, have you seen those gorgeous little roses that Fiona has just got in. Cute and so reasonable. Scrapping is just soooo moreish. LOL

Scrap Box NZ products used: Basic Grey pps, alphas and stickers, Bazzill Basics Kraft cardstock and bling brad, Jenni Bowlin button.

A Blokes Layout & Card

This challenge is to create a 12 x 12 layout entitled "My Dad". Also is include in this challenge is a card from the layouts scraps - getting you sorted for Father's Day!

This layout can be your own Dad or your children's Dad. As my girls know Dads wear many hats and different personalities depending on the mood. Lovable funny Dad - Grumpy Dad - Fisherman, handyman or sporty Dad.

My own Dad turned 80 years old this year and is very active. He's definitely is "handyman Dad". My girls always say when something breaks - "give it to Grandad he'll fix it". I think he has shares in a glue factory.

Have fun recalling stories and memories of your Dad in your layouts. You have until midnight on the 29th August to submit your layouts by emailing them to fiona@scrapboxnz.com. Good Luck!

Challenge entries for a girly layout

Obviously "Think Pink" wasn't for everyone. I only had these two entries. I don't want to choose one over the other as they are both wonderful. Thanks to both Elaine and Vicki for entering and you both will receive a $10 voucher to spend at Scrap Box NZ.

ATC Class

I attended one of Julia's classes on Tuesday and below is what we did. I really enjoyed being a part of a class and putting into practice all those techniques you hear about. Some you would think would be hard or you don't have the equipment for and then find out the short cuts and tips that make them really easy.

Simple dry embossing, inking and scrunching. Emboss resist, rolled edges, masking with Glimmer mist, double distressing and blending colours. We made these ATC's with the different techniques and they all have a sticker on the back for reference.

Any local ladies who want to be a part of Julia's classes email her at
jpryder@xtra.co.nz for class details. Wonderful morning out in the country. For those of you who don't live in Nelson area, but would like a kit made up from any of Julia's classes, contact her on the above email and she will send products and full instructions to you.

Thanks Julia - had a great time and learnt some new techniques too.

Oliver and Olivia

How YUMMY are these Basic Grey ranges. They are so versatile and the paper and embellies can be easily mixed and matched. Here I have made a crepe paper border around the photo mat, used a scrap of fabric, and corrugated a strip of paper for extra texture.
Scrap Box NZ products: Basic Grey PP and Alphas (Olivia), Basic Grey stickers (Oliver), Imaginisce flowers, flower trim.

Wow this sure was hard. You have all done so well, but it can down to "The Hut". I'm sure if that hut could talk it would have some amazing stories to share. Back to basics can make for some really great memories!

Congratulations to Brenda McKay

Think Pink!!!

Your fortnightly challenge is to create a "girly" 12 x 12 layout. The hint is in the title of this posting. Have fun and submit your layout to Fiona by midnight on the 15th August 2010. Email them to fiona@scrapboxnz.com. Looking forward to seeing your creations.

Have a wonderful week.

Entries for 3 Photo's or more

Thanks to you all that entered. The layouts are great and as you can see, more than one photo on a page tells a great story. Good Luck to you all and we'll be back on Wednesday with the winner.
