Glimmer Mist and doilies

Using a large paper doily as a mask, I sprayed Glimmer Mist over it on Kraft to create the background. Vintage book pages make neat scallop flower embellies. 'Remember This' was cut from the Teresa Collins paper.

Scrap Box NZ products used: Kraft, 7 Gypsies and Teresa Collins PP, Basic Grey rubons, Pink Paislee alphas, Making Memories pin (love these!), Tattered Angels glimmer mist, Kaisercraft pearl.

Prairie Lane....

....Julia style. These papers are just fabulous to work with. I had so much fun playing with a couple from the Prairie Lane range by KaiserCRAFT

Other product used are Cardstock in Nutmeg, Pinecone, Splash OP, Green Tara Flowers in 7cm, as well as some Transparency to add some clear pages, manila tag, and lace. Buttons, Chipboard shapes, and embroidery thread.

Petal Pushers

So I saw this range and to be honest I wasn't sure it was 'me'- mainly because I usually go for vintage, not brights and I have boys! HOWEVER..... they are double sided people (not all pink LOL) and because of the bright colours in kid's clothes and toys it was easy to match to photos AND was very fun to play with. Definitely extended me with paper choice- thanks Fiona :) .... I can feel some cute wee tags coming on....

Photo Challenge

Do you take heaps of photo's but end up using only one on a layout. Well here's a challenge for you.

Create a 12 x 12 layout using 3 photo's or more.

They don't have to be the same sized photo's. Try different sized or shaped photo's, changing the colours in the photo, enlarging a detail from the main photo, repeat one photo or use them as a filmstrip. That will give you some ideas.

Please email finished layouts to Fiona at fiona@scrapboxnz.com by midnight 1st August 2010. Good luck and have fun!

Mid Winter Christmas - challenge entries

These are wonderful and show how challenges are interpreted differently. Everyone has there own take on what is set and it's great to see what you all come up with. Thanks to those who have submitted these layouts.

I'll be back later in the day to set the next challenge - enjoy your day (now that the kids are back at school!!!).

My trip to Senz in Christchurch

I had a quick trip to SENZ in Christchurch, just flew down for the day. It was great to see what SENZ was all about, as you hear lots of stories as the SENZ date gets close. I must say I was a little disappointed, I thought it was going to be bigger, but then what was there was great.

Julia and my sister meet me there and had a little spend (ok we we had a budget blowout!!!) but came away with some goodies.
It was neat to see how the products are used and come away with some ideas.

Great to catch up with some clients, saw some of my suppliers and now have put faces to names. Quite a few familiar faces from Nelson. Hope everyone who went had a great time!

15/07/2010

SENZ is on this weekend at Riccarton Raceway Events Centre from the 16th - 18th July 2010.

For all those lucky enough to be going to SENZ in Christchurch - have a great time and for those of you who aren't going, I'm sure you will hear the stories about new products and hopefully see some of the items produced at the workshops.

I know of quite a few that are going down. Julia left with family today and hopefully I will catch up with her at SENZ. I'm flying down just for the day, but hope to come back with some great ideas to share, and some new products that Scrap Box NZ can add to the selection of products that we already carry. I'm meeting with a new supplier at the Airport. They have just become the newly appointed distributors for some high quality scrapbooking and cardmarking products that will soon be available in New Zealand.

First Reveal

For my first assignment, Fiona asked me to create a layout for one of the 'Clarity Quote Frames'. These would make an ideal gift for a relation or friend as layouts for the frame can be updated for subsequent gifts (an annual family photo, child's school pic etc). The frame design allows for a textured layout too. Check out the sample in store soon.

Scrap Box products used: Clarity Quote Frame, 7 Gypsies PP (Venice collection), Bazzill cardstock, Jenni Bowlin button, Glimmer Mist, Martha Stewart border punch, Green Tara leaf, ricrac and ribbon.

Other products: PP (unknown), rose (Prima), alphas (Making Memories), embroidery thread, lace, tag, Ranger distress ink.

Mid Winter Christmas

I had comments from the last challenge about "didn't know that counting to 6 could be so hard" and "gee that's got me thinking" . Well this challenge is going to be easy - a 12 x 12 layout with a Christmas theme. Get out those photo's from six months ago and start remembering the fun you had at Christmas !?!.

Email you finished layouts to fiona@scrapboxnz.com by midnight on Sunday 18th July 2010 to be in to win a $20 voucher to shop with Scrap Box NZ.

Here is a layout that Sally has done to give you some inspiration!

Here she has used the Making Memories Die Cuts Mini Dots from the Mistletoe Range by Making Memories & Buds n Bows Ribbon. The other items are from her own stash.

Have fun creating your layouts!

Challenge Entries for "Playing on the number 6"

These layouts needed to include 6 patterned papers and 6 different embellishments. Some of the layouts you will need to look closely, but I have had lists with them, and I assure you they all include at least 6 patterned papers and 6 different embellishments.

The winner will be announced on Wednesday - Good Luck to you all!!!

Sneak Peeks of Sally's Work

I've been lucky enough to see the end results and you won't be disappointed. These items are wonderful and showcases Sally's scrapbooking ability. Really pleased to have you on board Sally - Welcome!

Welcome on board ...

Last month I mentioned to "watch this space"!

One of those spaces was filled with me now doing the Challenges, and now I'm really pleased to fill another spot, by welcoming on board to Scrap Box NZ, Sally Robertson. Sally will be doing some design work for me, using products from the shop and inspiring you with great ideas for how these products can be used.

Sally and I have been talking behind the scenes and I spent a really neat morning with her looking over her albums, layouts and off the pages items she has made. They got me all enthused and inspired to get creating (not that time has allowed that to happen). It was great for me to see how the products I am selling, are used on layouts and in Albums.

I am looking forward to her using the products in the shop and inspiring you all to see how they can be incorporated in your work. Over the next few days I'll post a few sneak peeks at Sally's work, so again "watch this space".

Here is a little about Sally (in her words)

I am a wife and mother of two wee guys (aged 3 ½ and 1). I live in Nelson and am a speech-language therapist. I have a background in card making but my absolute passion is scrapbooking. My style is quite shabby. I love muted tones, distressing, anything vintage, layering, ribbons and trims. In addition to layouts I enjoy creating mini books as well. Favourite ranges include 7 gypsies, Cosmo Cricket, October Afternoon, My Mind’s Eye and Basic Grey. I am currently a guest designer for Jacquelyn Pedersen (Stampin’ Up). I am over the moon to be designing for Scrap Box NZ. Thanks Fiona!
